Serious fast and furious; that’s the way the action rolls at the prestigious Archie Roe Meet in Kalispell.

Putting together some serious efforts in the furious competition at storied Legends Stadium in Kalispell in the latest edition of the Roe meet Saturday, juniors Addy Deal and Aubrey Baxter led the Hawk girls to 21 points and tenth place in final team standings.

Going in hampered by minor injuries and other issues, the Hawk boys mainly competed in the JV and freshmen meets at the Roe. The Hawk boys JV scored 5.67 points and the freshmen 32, while the Lady Hawk JV counted 18 points in Kalispell.

With the regular season complete, Thompson Falls thinclads now head to the District 7B meet in Eureka Friday. For those who have not already automatically qualified for the State B, the top six place-winners in each event in Eureka move on to the Western B divisional meet in Missoula May 22-23.

Deal and Baxter were indeed dynamic, as usual for the Hawks this season, in the Roe varsity meet Saturday.

Deal matched her career best cleared height of 9-0 in claiming second place in the pole vault in addition to winning third in the javelin (with a best throw of 114-4) and claiming a respectable tenth place in a crowded field of discus throwers (with a toss of 93-1).

Baxter blazed her way to an impressive third place finish in the 400 meters (in 1:03.59) besides running down sixth in the 200 (in a personal-best time of 28.63 seconds).

In the girls JV meet, freshman Lexi Franck scored 18 team points in the sprints, registering one personal best time along the way.

“Addy and Aubrey had great days,” coach Trenna Ferris said adding that she has been very impressed with Franck’s week-to-week improvement. “Lexi is really doing well, working hard and looking good in all her events.”

Ferris also complimented the efforts of Teagan Dorscher and Toby Susic with the boys. “Teagan had a good day, getting three new PRs (personal records),” she said. “Toby is

making his mark in the freshman division, getting a nice PR in the shot put with a 36-0 throw.”

Alex Newman won third place in the frosh 100 meters, clocking 12.01 seconds for another Hawk highlight in Kalispell.

Hawks await playoff fate

The playoff fate of the Blue Hawks is in the hands of others as Northern conference teams head into the final week of regular season play, but you won’t find coach Jared Koskela and his scrappy young squad fretting about it. They just want to play another day, whichever way they have to do that.
