With Ann by his side, Mark Testroet passed away April 22, 2026, at Kootenai Health from complications of Inclusion Body Myositis, a rare, chronic muscle disease diagnosed in 2016, which progressively limited his mobility, swallowing and speech.

Mark was born Oct. 12, 1954, in Dubuque, Iowa, enjoying the Mississippi River as his playground until he could wander alone and travel extensively throughout the world. He was well-read, remembering every detail, nook, cranny and person he encountered along his journey with a thirst to always know more.

A proud Air Force veteran executing weather logistics and operational plans and a U.S. Patriot, Mark made his living as a highly skilled aircraft mechanic following military service. Still, he made his life through interest, connection, and gratitude for people. While IBM gradually took much from him, Mark never let it take his kindness, generosity, integrity or drive to live his best life possible.

Mark is survived by Ann, his wife of 28 years, brothers: Paul (Lelian), Washington, and David (Connie), Colorado; sister Laurie Robinson, Washington; niece Nadia, Florida; stepchildren: Erin Porter, Colorado, and Todd Porter, New York City; many Colorado in-laws and his special “pseudo granddaughters” he loved dearly. Mark joins parents Betty (Strong) and Hubert Testroet; niece Bianca Testroet; parents-in-law Pat and Joe Craig; and brothers-in-law Joe and Greg, celebrating his arrival in heaven with a “short one” while rocking to the blues, riding his bike, taking a hike and spreading his wings to once again move freely.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A celebration of life will follow.

In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials: Tunnels 2 Towers (www.dogood.t2t.org) or The Myositis Society (www.myositis.org).
