MOSCOW — Daniel Woelfle continued his impressive senior tennis season, finishing runner-up in Moscow while beating two opponents in straight sets at the 4A district tournament.

He is now 8-2 on the season, with both losses coming to a top-ranked opponent from Orofino.

In the first match of the tournament, held on May 12, Woelfle only allowed his opponent, from CDA to take one game, winning 6-0, 6-1.

While the semi-final matchup was more difficult, it was still a straight-set takedown. The first set went past six games, with Woelfle breaking his opponent in a 7-5 win. The second set was more straightforward, as he reached the final with a 6-3 scoreline.

The final did not go Woelfle’s way, as he lost by a score of 6-1, 6-2.

In the eight-person tournament, no match lasted more than the minimum of two sets.

Woelfle will now play at the state tournament in Nampa from May 15-16.
