STATE HIGH SCHOOL GOLF TOURNAMENTS: Kellogg boys finish just out of trophy hunt in 3A

PAYETTE — Kellogg's boys, seventh after the first day, finished fifth with a 352-354—706 at the state 3A golf tournament at Scotch Pines Golf Course on Tuesday, seven shots behind fourth-place Soda Springs  (350-349—699).

“We just couldn’t get two nines together,” Kellogg coach Danny Kenyon said. “We will be back next year.”

The top four teams receive trophies.

Wallace sophomore Cooper Miller was the top local, finishing in a tie for 13th place (83-82—165), tied with Kody Landon of Ririe (82-83—165). 

The top 10 individuals receive medals.

Melba's Colter Bodily won a three-way playoff for the state individual title with a 75-72—147, leading the Mustangs to the boys team championship with a 318-315—633, good for a 31-stroke victory.

Chase Lovell of Potlatch was second.

Soda Springs won the girls title by 29 shots with a 364-388—752. 

Kamryn Mansfield of Grace won the girls tournament with a 82-76—158. 

Junior Kayden Stutzke of Wallace was 20th with a 104-106—210.

Noble finishes 15th 

for Timberlake

EAGLE — Timberlake freshman Rose Noble finished 15th overall with a 103-103—206 in the state 4A tournament at Eagle Hills Golf Course. 

Bonners Ferry’s Patrick Young finished 11th in the boys tournament with a 86-73—159. 

Kimberly swept team titles for the second straight year. It is the fifth straight title for the Bulldog boys. 

Filer’s Tanli LeMyone won her second straight girls title, finishing with a 75-73—148. 

Korben Kowlitz of Kimberly won the boys title with a 68-69—137.
