Kunkel, a freshman from Lake City High, finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 11.23 seconds at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Meet on May 5 in Ellensburg, Wash.

Lewis-Clark track and field

Lambson, a freshman from St. Maries High, finished third in the discus at the Cascade Conference Championships last Saturday in La Grande, Ore., with a throw of 156 feet, 1 inch, earning all-conference honors. 


Kristine Schmidt

Oregon Tech softball

Schmidt, a junior from Coeur d'Alene High and North Idaho College, is 19-4 with two saves for the Owls (43-9), who are hosting the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round Klamath Falls Bracket at Stilwell Stadium. On Monday in the first round, Schmidt threw a two-hit shutout as Oregon Tech beat Dickinson State 4-0. On Tuesday in the semifinals, Schmidt pitched three innings of relief and earned the save as the Owls defeated 2024 NAIA champion Our Lady of the Lake of San Antonio 2-1. On Wednesday, Our Lady of the Lake defeated Oregon Tech, forcing a deciding championship game today at 1 p.m. in Klamath Falls.
