The hilarious and charming musical "Once Upon a Mattress" will open May 22 at Lake City Playhouse.

Directed by Marie Hunt and music directed by Scott Michaelson, this fairy tale comedy is packed with outrageous characters and big laughs.

Amanda Guinn will star as Princess Fred alongside Chance Turnbull as Prince Dauntless.

"One of the beautiful things about community theater is that the people you see shining on stage are the same people serving our community by day," Lake City Playhouse Artistic Director Brooke Wood said in a Monday news release. "You can tell it’s community theater because not only do we have amazing talent on stage, but these performers are also photographers, doctors, barbers and even opening new restaurants right here in town."

Guinn was last seen on the playhouse stage as Jo in "Little Women." When she is not delighting audiences with her infectious stage presence, she is busy being a barber at Rebel Barbershop in Spokane.

Audiences may recognize Brady Campbell as the guy who has taken many pictures around North Idaho — he's the owner of BC Photography. He also played Fagin in "Oliver" and will appear as the Wizard in "Once Upon a Mattress." Campbell is also the genius behind the poster for the show.

When Jessica Jameson is not busy being a mom and a doctor, she is hard at work bringing the outlandish Queen Aggravain to life.

Daniel Hunt spends his days working for his family and recently opened the new sandwich shop Husky Boys on Fourth Street. By night, he transforms into the fun and silly King Sextimus.

Tickets are available at Lake City Playhouse. Adult tickets are $30.75 and senior, military and student tickets are $25.75 online.
