An Oregon man is accused of driving his truck into an occupied house in Ronan while he was impaired. Carl Raymond Bishop, 49, entered a plea of not guilty in Polson District Court May 7 to misdemeanor DUI and two felony counts of criminal endangerment.
According to charging documents, on April 12, law enforcement responded to a report that a truck was driven into a residence on Franklin Street in Ronan. Responding officers observed significant structural damage to the home and reported that air bags of the truck were deployed.
The officer also documented a Coors Light in the center console. Bishop’s blood alcohol content was later determined to be .247, three times over the legal limit.
A witness reported seeing Bishop appear to be unsteady on his feet when he entered the truck and drove into the residence without slowing down. Two occupants were in the living room at the time of the collision; one was just two feet away from being struck.
Judge John A. Mercer set the case for trial on Oct. 26. Bishop is at liberty.
