PREP SWIMMING: Bullpups finish out season with home meet against Moscow

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Bullpups middle school swim team broke multiple school records as they wrapped up their season at the Bullpup Invitational held May 8 at the Litehouse YMCA.

Eighth-grader Myelle Jensen led the way for the girls, winning the 100 IM (1:12.41) and 100 free (1:04.95) while eighth-grader Josh Jackson won the 50 back (31.28) and 100 free (1:01.78) in boys action. Seventh-grader Allyson Ballard added a win in the 50 free (31.36) as did Penelope Gall in the 50 fly (41.06) and Vienne La Fountain in the 50 breast (46.11).

In the relays, Fiona Naples, Savannah Ferris, Gall, and La Fountain won the 200 free relay (2:26.96) and Naples, La Fountain, Ferris and Addison Gordon (2:51.26) combined to win the 200 medley relay in girls action. Nolan Tuohy, Jackson, Ballard and Jensen rounded out the day's victories with first-place finishes in both the 200 free (2:13.43) and 200 medley (2:30.17) mixed relays.

Sandpoint Middle School head coach Emily Renzini said she was proud of the team’s strong finish and for the effort her swimmers displayed, especially competing in back-to-back meets while still posting personal best times and time drops across the board. Renzini also expressed gratitude to the parents, volunteers, and coaches who donated their time and energy to help host the home meet, describing the support from the community as truly amazing and an important part of the team’s successful season finale.
