BONNERS FERRY — A new locally owned business is giving Boundary County residents a place to shop local products and support community vendors year-round.
Prepared Right opened May 1 at 6471 Bonner St., next to the former Riverside Auto building.
Owner Brittany Bowman said the vision for the store is to create a brick-and-mortar version of a community farm stand.
“The goal is to have a local spot where people can shop from their neighbors,” Bowman said. “Whether it be milk, breads, cheese, eggs, jams, jellies, honeys, something they’ve made, created, baked or found. That they can shop from their neighbors and support local business.”
The store features a variety of locally made and consignment items, including handcrafted goods, 3D-printed creations, and paper floral art.
“We have lots of odds and end finds that people can look through,” Bowman said.
Prepared Right also offers consignment opportunities for local vendors. Consignors can choose between a flat monthly rate or a percentage-based option. Children participating in entrepreneurial or artistic ventures may consign their items free of charge.
“So, if you have a child entrepreneur that is trying to get their own line out there, or their art out there, then it’s free for them,” Bowman said.
Bowman said the business hopes to expand its offerings in the future, including additional prepared food options and take-and-bake meals as permitting allows.
The business is also planning summer parking lot events featuring live music and community gatherings.
Since opening earlier this month, Bowman said customers have been coming in daily.
Prepared Right is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
