Libby, Troy athletes turn in strong marks at Archie Roe meet

Facing up against AA competition, Libby and Troy athletes posted several top finishes Saturday at the Archie Roe track and field meet at Legends Stadium.
Libby’s top boys performance came from Cody Watson, who placed sixth in the varsity 3,200 meters in a personal-best 10 minutes, 3.54 seconds. Ledger Fortner added a ninth-place finish in the varsity 200 in 24.18 seconds.
The Libby boys 4x100 relay team of Isaiah Barks, Fortner, Colter Anderson and Tristan Andersen placed fifth in 45.23 seconds. The Loggers’ varsity 4x400 team of Fortner, Anderson, Gabe Kosters and Watson finished eighth in 3:40.64.
Porter Hollingsworth had a strong day in junior varsity competition, placing second in the 400 in a personal-best 57.97 and second in the triple jump at 37 feet, 0.5 inches. He also ran on Libby’s freshman 4x100 relay team with Hudson Hannah, Thomas Nelson and Barrett Moe, which placed sixth in 51.20.
Hannah placed fifth in the freshman 400 in a personal-best 57.83. Andrew Duran was 10th in the freshman 1,600 in 5:45.57.
In the field events, Talon Nordwick placed sixth in the freshman discus at 94-7 and 16th in the freshman shot put at 26-8.75. Barrett Moe placed 11th in the freshman long jump at 16-1, while Hannah was 17th at 15-1.5.
Troy’s boys were led by Michael Gillespie, who placed 21st in the varsity 200 in 25.48 and 14th in the varsity triple jump at 35-7.25. Gillespie also placed sixth in the junior varsity 110 hurdles in a personal-best 23.16.
Kai Brownell placed 14th in the varsity 1,600 in a personal-best 5:01.43 and 14th in the varsity 3,200 in a personal-best 11:35.10.
In the throws, Troy’s Conner Powell placed 21st in the varsity shot put at 34-6.75 and 33rd in the varsity discus at 81-9. Daniel Rebo was 24th in the junior varsity shot put at 30-1, and Jarek Eide was 31st at 27-1. Ben Powers placed 19th in the freshman discus at 56-9, while Eric Stanton was 20th at 45-11.
On the girls side, Libby’s Capri Farmer continued an excellent distance season, winning the varsity 1,600 in a personal-best 5:07.24. She also placed fourth in the varsity 800 in 2:21.37.
Hailey Misner placed second in the varsity 200 in 27.16 and ran on Libby’s varsity 4x400 relay with Ava Jensen, Evalyn Cliff and Farmer, which placed fifth in 4:23.47.
Cliff placed fourth in the junior varsity 100 hurdles in 18.79, while Alyssa Andersen placed sixth in the junior varsity long jump at 13-8.75.
Jensen placed fifth in the freshman 800 in 2:56.47, while Kyla Lausen placed 10th in the same race in a personal-best 3:11.09. Elizabeth Wiederhold placed ninth in the freshman 400 in 1:30.94.
Troy’s top girls performance came from Aspen Orr, who placed fifth in the varsity long jump at 15-9.5 and seventh in the varsity 400 in 1:04.86. Jessie Heileson finished 11th in the varsity 200 in 30.59 and 25th in the long jump at 12-9.
