Pauline was born in Chillicothe, Texas, to Paul and Hannah (Turner) Ruiz. "Our" Pauline passed away April 8 in Moses Lake at the age of 91 after a brief illness.

In 1943 the family left Texas, moving to Bremerton, Washington, to contribute to the war effort. In 1945, at the war's end, Tacoma became home. After graduating from Stadium High School, the great move to Los Angeles, California was her next move.

In the early 1970s, she moved back to Tacoma to care for her beloved mother, Hannah Bell. In 1981, the two moved to Moses Lake to be with the family, as their home had been sold to make room for the Tacoma Dome.

She loved and was the best waitress ever, serving "her" customers at various restaurants, including the County Club and TJ's.

When she married Darwin Hines, her career as a process server began. After Darwin's passing in 2008, she took control of their business, AM/PM Service Inc., driving all over Eastern Washington, et cetera. Amazingly, she was still going strong at 91 years of age.

Pauline attended the Moses Lake Presbyterian Church, loving every cherished moment. We thank Steve and Pat Gordon, for always being there, plus Alice Brooks, who would best be described as “Pauline's Bestie.”

Pauline was preceded in death by her mother Hannah, sister Elizabeth, nephew Jesse Green, stepdaughter Daria and husband Darwin.

She is survived by her niece Joan Green; great-nieces Jilleen (Green) Hotchkiss (Devon) and Justine Green; and great-nephews Joel Green (Pamela) and Jason Green along with 11 two times great-nieces/ nephews, five three times great nieces/nephews, stepdaughter Raquel Bridges and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you gift to the Moses Lake Library in her name, as it was a place near and dear to her heart.

Services will be at Moses Lake Presbyterian Church, 1142 W. Ivy Ave., Moses Lake on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2 p.m.
