Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 53 minutes AGO
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emily J. Branen, who left us May 11, 2026, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born on Oct. 29, 1969, in Twin Falls, Emily's life was marked by a boundless capacity for love, unwavering dedication to her family and a lively spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
Emily was the embodiment of warmth and kindness; known lovingly as a very sweet person, she was also endearingly funny and delightfully goofy. Her unique ability to never shy away from embarrassing her children in the best possible way brought laughter and joy to many moments shared with her beloved family. She cherished her role as a loving mother, creating a home filled with love, laughter and warmth.
Her family was central to her life. Emily is lovingly survived by her devoted children, Cassidy and Jaylen, and her partner, Grant. Her sisters, Helen, Janet and Julie remain close by, carrying forward her legacy of love and compassion. Emily’s devotion extended beyond her human family; she was fiercely adored by her two dogs, Hoss the English Mastiff and Daisy the Retriever, and her beloved cat, Thumbs McGee, the Maine Coon. These cherished companions were constant reminders of the gentle, nurturing nature that defined her.
Professionally, Emily was a respected and beloved member of the Stimson Lumber family for over 20 years. Wildly recognized for her talent, dedication and resourcefulness, she was a cherished colleague who was always ready to support her coworkers whenever needed. She excelled in her work and approached every task, no matter the difficulty, with a uniquely positive attitude and a smile on her face. Her warmth and caring spirit brightened the office each day and enriched the lives of many over the years.
The Branen family extends their profound gratitude to the medical team of Dr. Gay and a very special thank you to Dr. Jacobs and his nurse, Ray, for their compassionate care and support during Emily’s final days, allowing her to spend precious time surrounded by those she held dear.
Emily found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: walking in the sunshine alongside her children — whether furry or otherwise — and savoring a glass or two of whiskey in the quiet evenings. These moments were emblematic of her love for life and her ability to find happiness in everyday experiences.
A funeral service to honor Emily’s life will be held May 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, ID, 83814. Graveside service will follow at Riverview Cemetery, 1065 Lincoln Way, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. All who knew her are welcome to come together to remember and celebrate a truly remarkable woman whose spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and community.
Emily J. Branen leaves behind a legacy defined by love, laughter and an indelible impact on all who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May her soul rest in peace.
