Sheri Smith, 72

Sheri Smith of Spirit Lake, Idaho, passed away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord on March 6, 2026. She is the daughter of Richard Gilbert and Francis Fritz. She is the second youngest of six children. 

Sheri resided in the North Idaho area all of her life and raised her own family here. She met the love of her life in 1969, Timothy Smith Sr. They married in February of 1970 and welcomed their firstborn in August of that same year. They went on to have four more children, the last a surprise, with quite a gap between the youngest and oldest. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Timothy, and their five children, Alice (Clinton), Timothy Jr. (Kelly), Merriah (Michael), Jason (Annaka) and Alisa (Jesse). She also has 18 grandchildren, plus their spouses and 26 great-grandchildren. And it all started with just the two of them. She is also survived by her youngest brother, Brett, and by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Francis; her siblings, Warren, Marie, Donna and Rick; her grandson, Logan; and her in-laws, Harold and Betty Atkinson. 

A celebration of life will be June 6, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Twinlow Retreat Center in Rathdrum. 

We have peace in knowing that our wife, mother and grandmother accepted the Lord as her Savior and know that we will see her again one day.
