NO. 32106 PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE CITY OF COLUMBIA FALLS LOCAL GOVERNMENT STUDY COMMISSION The Columbia Falls Local Government Study Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Columbia Falls City Hall, 130 6th Street West, Columbia Falls, Montana. The meeting will start at 6;00 pm with a public education session with a representative from the Local Government Center and the public hearing, where the Commission, will hear formal comment on the recommendation will begin at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the Final Report of the Columbia Falls Local Government Study Commission, which recommends that the voters of the City of Columbia Falls amend the City’s existing plan of government by adopting self-government powers under Montana law. If approved by voters, adoption of self-government powers would provide the City Government with enhanced flexibility to address future community needs while retaining all general government authority currently exercised by the City. The Final Report summarizes the Study Commission’s review process, public survey results, meeting summaries, findings, and recommendations. Following the public hearing and consideration of public input, the Study Commission will adopt the Final Report at its June 17, 2026, meeting, including setting the date for a citywide election on the proposed amendment to the City’s plan of government.
