The city of Coeur d'Alene and the Museum of North Idaho invite the public to join them Friday for the Historic Preservation Reception and presentation of the Heart of History Awards.
The 2026 Heart of History award celebrates the community's grassroots effort that saved the historic 1905 Roosevelt School. Steve and Marie Widmyer ended up buying the beloved brick structure on Wallace Avenue to save it from the wrecking ball.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of North Idaho.
May is Preservation Month, and the MONI will be holding special tours.
