The America’s Greatest TAMPs publication has named Coeur d’Alene’s True Freedom Investing as the 17th largest Turnkey Asset Management Platform and the No. 1 fastest growing TAMP in the country.

True Freedom Investing is the investment platform used by Pinkerton Wealth.

"We are grateful for the recognition, primarily to our clients and hundreds of investment advisors around the country that work with us, who make that possible,” Dan Pinkerton, president, CFP, CKA and CEO of Pinkerton Wealth, said. “I believe all lasting success comes from the blessing of the Lord. We have a phenomenal team, and their performance has been phenomenal.”

Forbes has also recognized Pinkerton Wealth as the No. 1 investment advisor in the Inland Northwest.

According to a May 12 press release, True Freedom Investing supports about $1.7 billion in platform assets, providing Registered Investment Advisors with a comprehensive investment and operational ecosystem designed to accelerate both advisor revenue and enterprise value.

The True Freedom platform is powered by the patented investment research engine of Sherman Research, which integrates active, passive, tactical and alternative strategies designed to advance and protect client wealth across full market cycles.

“In 2021, we were tracking 30 different model portfolios that we had for our clients and advisors, and there was one that was just killing it with returns up to 94% in just three years, so we bought it and patented the research,” Pinkerton said. “We took it to a whole different level and in the last 12 months, our No. 1 portfolio is up 92%.”

As a result, Pinkerton said it now has hundreds of investment firms and hedge funds worldwide buying its research.

“Sherman Research was growing so fast. So, we divided the company in January so that the research company could focus exclusively on research, and we renamed the TAMP business True Freedom Investing,” Pinkerton said.

Pinkerton said the name came about because he found that investors truly want freedom with their investing.

“They don't want to be stuck just with passive and active portfolios. They want to be able to access the Warren Buffett-type investment strategies we call tactical that just for the most part aren't out there within their reach,” Pinkerton said. “So, we give investors and investment advisors true freedom to be able to choose from all four of the major types of investments, active, passive, tactical, as well as liquid alternatives that are also tactical.”

Pinkerton said his company is one of the few firms in the country that focus on all four types of investments, which is why it is one of the fastest-growing TAMPs.

“Sherman Research has also become the global leader in tactical asset allocation with over 50 plus portfolios that are tactical specifically, in addition to all the other types of investments that are on the platform,” Pinkerton said.

His Coeur d’Alene office specializes in working with accredited investors, but he has other offices around the country that don't have minimums.

“We've made a commitment to our existing clients locally that we're going to limit the number of new clients that we accept to be able to continue to provide the level of service they've become accustomed to,” Pinkerton said.

Pinkerton has a nationwide staff of 70 people; 40 work in Coeur d’Alene.

Pinkerton Wealth will celebrate its 30th year of investment advisement in Coeur d’Alene in 2027.

“When my wife and I were making plans to move our business from Alaska in 1997, we put together a list of 40 things we wanted in the ideal community to move our staff and family to, and we narrowed it down to 20 cities,” Pinkerton said. “We ranked them from one to 10 in each category and added up the score, and there wasn't even a close second to Coeur d’Alene.”

Pinkerton Wealth is at 2000 W. John Loop Road. Call 208-667-8998 for more information.
