Brett Owens Van Voast left this world unexpectedly on May 12, 2026, to join his Heavenly Father.

Brett was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on May 13, 1966, to Wayne and JoAnn Van Voast. He and his family moved to Montana when he was 2. Brett lived in Helena, Billings and Butte. He also lived in Spokane, Washington, and Bakersfield, California, before moving to Troy in 2012.

Brett graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1985 and then went on to Auto Body School at Montana Tech. He later got a bachelor’s degree at Carroll College, in Helena, Montana, majoring in Political Science, with a minor in economics.

Brett worked in an auto body shop, was a campaign manager for a Montana Legislature candidate, was an employee for the State of Montana in technology, and for Aera Energy in Bakersfield, California. He most recently worked at ACE Hardware in Libby, Montana.

Brett loved playing pool and devoted much of his life to this sport from the age of 18 to the present. He made life-long friends and played all over the State of Montana. Last month Brett took second place in the Libby Spring Tournament, bumping his Fargo rating up to 623. He had a great talent for finessing the billiards.

In 2012 his pool buddies thought that he dropped off the face of the earth, as Brett found his dream property in Troy, Montana. In 2020 he married the love of his life, Terry, at age 54. They were often seen hand in hand, enjoying life together in Troy.

Brett fulfilled a dream by holding a class called the Watchman Report at his home church, Troy Community Baptist Church. He loved leading classes about Biblical prophecy being fulfilled in our world today. He also created a website called True Word Today with articles he wrote and links to other articles.

Brett deeply loved his mother, his wife Terry, family reunions, and playing pool. He had a passion for finding the truth, political science and Biblical prophecy. He walked with God for the past 16 years. He had a strong faith in Christ.

Brett was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Van Voast.

He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Marvicsin, (Dan), Spokane, Washington, brother Todd Van Voast of Portland, Oregon and step-sister Heidi and family; wife Terry Van Voast of Troy, Montana; his stepchildren, Elisha Kampfe, Kristen Montgomery, (Adam) John Ryle Kampfe, (Ashley) and four step-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, May 23 at the Troy Community Baptist Church. A potluck for all will follow.
