Curtis 'Troy' Stribling, 65
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 hour, 9 minutes AGO
Curtis “Troy” Stribling, 65, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, went on a long hunting/fishing trip with his father in Heaven on May 11, 2026. Troy was born in Everett, Wash., and was raised in a little town called Machias, and attended the Snohomish School District. Troy couldn’t wait to get out of school to head to the Pilchuck River to go fishing or help out at his grandparents’ restaurant. Troy graduated from Snohomish High School in 1980, lettering in Baseball. He married his high school sweetheart, Tammi McLain and they had two children, Misty (1982) and Curtis (1984).
Troy worked as a butcher for Shank’s Packings and was a truck driver delivering to King and Snohomish County Safeways. He also took a manager position down in Gresham, Ore., for Interstate Meats, and later drove a dump truck for a construction company, NEI, before he retired in 2017 and started traveling.
Troy loved a great adventure. Many of them, throughout his life, were traveling to Cannon Beach, Ore. (family trips), Montana (elk-hunting trips with son/friends), Alaska (fishing trips), family fishing trips to Wapato Lake near Chelan, Wash., and the Columbia River. Costa Rica zip-lining with monkeys in the jungle, Florida on an airboat through the swamps, night fishing, but his favorite place was “Crow Creek Campground,” a hunting spot from his youth where he hunted with his parents/ friends. His recent love was riding his E-bike all over CDA, Idaho (over a thousand miles in one summer). This man loved his music from the 1970s to the 2000s, which was his specialty. He went to many concerts with his sister and brother-in-law, daughter/son and friends over the years. He was the one throwing his hands up in the air, singing along. He would come home from work and jam out in his truck (freshly washed/waxed) before coming into the house. His daughter thought he was on the cover of a CD when she was little because he dressed just like the “Boss,” Bruce Springsteen. Barbecues with family/friends, NASCAR races and Seahawks games were among his highlights.
Troy was preceded in his death by his dad, Jim. Jim Stribling was waiting for him on the other side with a fishing pole in hand, ready for their next adventures with many grandparents, extended family and friends.
Troy is survived by his mother, Gloria Stribling of Coeur d'Alene, daughter Misty (John) Thompson of Coeur d'Alene, son Curtis (Cori) Stribling of Arizona, sister and brother-in-law Jami (Todd) Walker of Coeur d'Alene, nieces Jordanna (Sam) Webb of Coeur d'Alene, Rummor (Steven) Walker of Coeur d' Alene and nephew Quadde Walker of Coeur d' Alene. Best friend Kelly (Randi) Flaherty, from high school. Special thanks to Richie (Shannon) Jahns. Buddies: Ron, Randy, Andy and Carl. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Troy’s eyes would truly light up with his five grandchildren: Koda, Rylynn, Adelynn, Taber and Weston. Some of the best memories were made with them.
We will miss your smile, your stories (tall tales), your gentle soul, your love for people and your belly laughter.
Rest easy, Dad/Papa/Son/Brother/friend. We will keep your legacy going. You’ll forever be in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held this summer at a later date. Please email [email protected] for a date and time. Daughter will post on Facebook as well.
