Ephrata School District earns clean audit for 2024-25 fiscal year

EPHRATA — The Ephrata School District received audit reports with no findings for the 2024–25 fiscal year from the Washington State Auditor’s Office, according to the auditor's office.
Auditors reported no material weaknesses, no significant deficiencies and no material noncompliance in the district’s financial statements, federal programs or accountability audit, according to the SAO. The review examined the district’s financial reporting, federal grant compliance, internal controls and accountability practices.
According to the audit, district records met both state and federal requirements, and no issues requiring corrective action were identified.
As a result, Ephrata continues to qualify as a low-risk auditee under federal guidelines, according to the district.
“This audit reflects the commitment and professionalism of our team in upholding strong financial stewardship,” said Allison Razey, the district’s director of business and finance said in a statement. “It affirms that public resources are being managed responsibly and with integrity.”
Superintendent Ken Murray credited district staff for the outcome.
“I want to thank Allison and our entire team for their exceptional work in achieving this result,” Murray said in a district statement. “This reflects the care and discipline that define our work each day.”
The district’s next audit is scheduled for 2027.

EPHRATA — The City of Ephrata is set to formally recognize Poppy Days from May 16 through May 30 with a mayoral proclamation highlighting the importance of honoring veterans and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The proclamation, presented by Mayor Steve Oliver, encourages residents to wear a red poppy in recognition of veterans and to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day beyond a single holiday. “Unfortunately, our veterans only get one real day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day,” Oliver said. “But it really doesn’t explain how much time should be dedicated to remembering all the good things they did for us. This is a small gesture to make sure that we are thinking about them more often than just those two days a year.”
