Hot Springs Telephone Company has joined the statewide BroadbandMT association as its 12th telecommunications member.
Hot Springs Telephone Company has been part of the Hot Springs community since 1935. What began as an 80-customer switchboard has grown into a modern provider offering phone, data and fiber services across more than 100 miles of network. Today, the company serves more than 700 phone lines and over 550 data customers in the region.
By joining BroadbandMT, Hot Springs Telephone Company becomes part of a coalition of Montana based broadband providers that collectively employ more than 1,000 people and invest over $100 million in rural infrastructure each year. BroadbandMT advocates for these companies before state and federal policymakers to ensure that Montana’s rural communities remain connected and competitive.
“Hot Springs Telephone Company represents the best of Montana’s broadband story – local ownership, community commitment, and a willingness to serve places that national providers overlook,” said Bridger Mahlum, General Manager of BroadbandMT. “We’re proud to welcome them and to support their work on behalf of rural Montanans.”
“For more than 90 years, our focus has been on serving the people of Hot Springs and the surrounding area,” said DJ Bulkley, Director of Operations at Hot Springs Telephone Company. “Joining BroadbandMT helps us continue that mission by giving us a stronger voice and new opportunities to collaborate with other Montana providers.”
Hot Springs Telephone Company and BroadbandMT both emphasized that high-speed internet access is essential for education, healthcare, business, and quality of life in rural communities.
