Polson Seniors: Honor veterans by voting

Memorial Day is Monday, May 25. It is observed to honor the military members who have died in service to the United States of America.

The primary election in Montana in June 2. Honor those who have died protecting your right to vote by voting! Register, vote and participate in democracy! Demand that young people you know vote! It is their future that is at stake, and the future of our country that so many have fought and died for.

In case you haven’t noticed the traffic, tourist season is here, aka No Left Turns Season (unless a four-way stop or stop light).

You can spot the tourists. They are the ones who don’t know the rules.

Activities at the Polson Senior Center include: Bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and Card Bingo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays; Pinochle, 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays (new or older players are welcome); pool, table available 8 a.m.-3 p.m.; Mahjong and Bridge, noon Wednesdays (looking for substitutes and regular players); exercise class (low impact and video-assisted), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Also at the center: Kiwanis Club of Polson meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month through June; Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays (call 208-520-1013); and the Veterans Service Officer is available from 10 a.m.-noon on the firstt Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday ($5.00 donation; $10 without MASTS form completed). Milk is available with all meals.

Main dishes include

Pigs-in-bedding-covers and mac ’n cheese and veggies marinara, May 21: Birthday Dinner for Lunch, with roast beef, door prizes, cake, pretzel salad, and more, May 22; pork loin and scalloped potatoes, May 26; French dip, May 27; ham/turkey wrap, May 28; and “Alpine Teepee” burger, May 29;

The center is closed Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day.

Our community center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes, and may be reserved for special events on weekends and evenings.

We are open 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays, or later by appointment.
