Find out what “Soylent Green” is really made of at a screening of the 1973 dystopian thriller at Movie Night at the Museum May 26 at the Northwest Montana History Museum.
Set in what was once bustling New York City, now turned to rubble and decay in the year 2022, Detective Robert Thorn (Charlton Heston) investigates the murder of a high-ranking executive at the all-powerful Soylent Corporation.
While a population of 40 million struggles to survive on only synthetic food rations, Thorn grows ever closer to a discovery that may well unravel the last remaining threads of the fabric of this ruined society.
Director Richard Fleischer described the 1973 film as a grounded warning rather than pure fantasy. The film has garnered critical attention, winning the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film, as well as the Nebula Award for dramatic presentation.
The movie starts at 7 p.m. in the Swanberg Classroom at the Northwest Montana History Museum, 124 Second Ave. E., Kalispell. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Host and educator Jacob Thomas will provide prescreening remarks.
Admission and popcorn are free. Soda, water, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Seating is provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own.
