Lambertsen, Wells shine for Eureka at Western B track

MISSOULA — Josh Lamberson put his best foot forward en route to the 400-meter title at the Western B-C track and field divisional Friday at Big Sky High School.
Lambertson ran a personal best 49.03 seconds to take the victory ahead of Missoula Loyola’s Harrison Spethman. He also ran in the preliminaries of the 100 (finishing seventh) and 200 (finishing eighth).
Benjamin Hughes added a third place for Eureka in the 800, setting a personal best time of 2:03.43. Plains’ John Jermyn took the win at 2:01.08.
The Lions’ boys sit in sixth with 20 points after the first day of competition. Loyola leads with 62 points, Florence-Carlton is second with 47 and Darby is third with 44.
Eureka’s girls also sit in sixth with 22 points. Anaconda leads at 51 points, Florence follows with 36. In third are Loyola and Plains at 26 apiece.
Gabrielle Wells gave the Lady Lions their lone event win of day one with a personal record mark of 33 feet, 4.5 inches in the shot put.
Eureka’s Kricket Bridges was second in the girls pole vault, clearing 9-0. Thompson Falls’ Addyson Deal won at 9-6.
Events start Saturday at 10 a.m. for day two of competition.
