MISSOULA — Eureka’s Josh Lambertsen capped off a strong showing at the Western B-C track divisional with a pair of second places on the track and a win in the high jump Saturday at MCPS Stadium.

Lambertsen set personal bests and school records in both the 100 (11.03 seconds) and 200 (22.33) while finishing second in each event behind Florence’s Logan Williams. Lambertsen’s 100 time was good for fifth in Class B, while his 200 time has him fourth.

He cleared 6-foot-2 in the high jump to win over a quartet of athletes who finished at 6-0. He scratched from the pole vault, but is already qualified for the state meet in the event.

Friday, Lambertsen won the 400 in a PR and meet record 49.03.

Benjamin Hughes added some strong finishes in the distance events: third in the 800, fifth in the mile and sixth in the 3,200.

The Lions boys finished the meet fifth in the team standings with 56 points. Missoula Loyola (97 points) edged Darby (96) for the title with Florence (89) and Anaconda (73) following.

Troy finished 11th with two points earned by Michael Gillespie’s fifth-place finish in the triple jump at 37-11.75.

The Lions girls were seventh with 26 points, just ahead of Troy at 22. Missoula Loyola and Florence shared top honors at 96 points apiece. Plains and Anaconda tied at 75 points for third.

The Lady Lions found one event win on the meet; Gabriele Wells took the shot put with a personal best 33-4.5.

Kricket Bridges added a second place in the pole vault, clearing 9-0. Thompson Falls’ Addyson Deal won at 9-6.

Freshman Aspen Orr had a great showing in the jumps for Troy, winning the triple jump with a leap of 35-5 — good enough for fifth in Class B. She took second in the long jump with a PR of 16-6 behind Florence’s Brinley Skaggs (16-10.5).

The State AA-B meet is May 29-30 in Missoula.
