Sandpoint seeking artist submissions

SANDPOINT — The city of Sandpoint is seeking artist submissions by May 28 for two major projects.
The larger of the two projects will task artists with creating an original design for the half-court circle and half-circles at the top of the keys at the City Beach basketball court. The mural is a part of the city’s ongoing renovation of all the public basketball courts in Sandpoint.
In the request for proposal, city officials state that the art must preserve the function and visibility of the court, while introducing a compelling artistic element. If selected, the artist will receive a $2,500 stipend upon completing the project.
The second project is for the city’s Summer Street Banner program, which will see the chosen artwork displayed on lampposts downtown during the city’s busiest months. The theme for this year’s contest is “Summer in Sandpoint,” with submissions capturing the character and energy of the season.
If selected, the artist will receive a $250 stipend. The proposals are open to anyone residing in the United States.
All submissions should be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to City Hall before Thursday, May 28, at 2 p.m. The city’s Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation Commission will review submissions at its next meeting.
