Several people were hurt, one critically, in multiple ATV crashes on Saturday night.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, three separate ATV crashes involving members of the same riding group were reported simultaneously at different locations on Forest Service Road 209 near the Horsehaven Airstrip in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest about 8 p.m.
Backcountry deputies located each crash scene. Two of the crashes resulted in multiple broken bones and head injuries, a press release said. The third crash, involving a 17-year-old rider, resulted in life-threatening injuries, the release said.
Three Life Flight helicopters responded to the scene to transport the injured riders.
"CPR was performed on the 17-year-old rider, and responders were able to regain a pulse," the release said.
All three injured riders were transported by helicopter to Kootenai Health. Two riders are currently in stable condition, while the 17-year-old remains in critical condition.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Team responded to the scene and is investigating all three crashes.
