Troy softball earns 3rd seed out of Western B/C

ANACONDA — The Lady Trojans battled through a busy Saturday at the Western B Divisional and secured the No. 3 seed for next week’s Class B-C state tournament in Billings.
Troy absorbed a loss to eventual Divisional champion and then closed with wins over Anaconda (26-2) and Mission-Arlee-Charlo (8-3).
Florence 10, Troy 0
Florence used a six-run fourth inning to pull away from Troy in the semifinals.
The Falcons (21-2) scored three runs in the first inning behind Taylor Pyette’s RBI double, a sacrifice groundout from Lacie Larson, and an RBI single from Elizabeth Camp.
In the fourth, Pyette and Camp each drove in two runs, while Maggie Schneiter added an RBI double during the rally. Jaden Fisher tossed six scoreless innings for the Falcons, allowing one hit and striking out six.
Ellah Wallace recorded Troy’s lone hit.
Florence defeated Three Forks 8-6 in the championship to secure the No. 1 seed.
Troy 26, Anaconda 2
Kristi Jellesed drove in seven runs as Troy rolled past Anaconda to clinch a berth in the state tournament.
The Lady Trojans erupted for 13 runs in the first inning and added eight more in the second. Jellesed delivered two-run singles in both frames, while Wallace and Allie Borgmann added two-run triples.
Troy finished with 19 hits, and the game ended after the third inning due to mercy rule.
Claira Folkerts earned the win after allowing two hits and two runs.
Troy 8, MAC 3
Jellesed collected three hits as Troy pulled away with a four-run fourth inning to defeat Mission-Arlee-Charlo in the Western B third-place game.
MAC (15-8) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Kieran Incashola singled home GG Hawk. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the second behind RBI singles from Bella Dillard and Hawk to move ahead 3-0.
Troy answered in the second after Wallace scored on an error and Ainsley Huitron lined a two-run single to center field that scored Jellesed and Hailey Dungan, tying the game 3-3.
In the fourth inning, the Lady Trojans took control with four runs. Addyson Fisher delivered a two-run single before Ellie Borgmann reached on an error that brought home another run. Dungan later added an RBI single to stretch the advantage to 7-3.
Halle Wallace earned the complete-game victory, allowing six hits and three runs.
Jellesed finished 3-for-3 at the plate, while Fisher and Huitron each drove in two runs. Fisher stole two bases as Troy swiped eight bases as a team.
The Class B-C State Tournament begins on May 28 at Stewart Park, and Troy will play Manhattan in the first round.
