David Bro, 81

David ("Dave") Lloyd Bro, age 81, of Liberty Lake, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026.

Dave was born Feb. 4, 1945, in Minneapolis to Lloyd and Shirley Bro. At the time of his birth, his father was being held in a prisoner-of-war camp in Germany during World War II. While awaiting news of her husband, his mother traveled from Minneapolis to Coeur d'Alene to stay with the Bro family.

Dave graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1963 and later earned his degree from Western Montana College. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Berg Tompkins, in 1965, and after graduating from college, they moved to Post Falls, where Dave began his teaching and coaching career. Following his years in education, he worked for the Coeur d'Alene Press.

Dave was a gifted athlete in both high school and college and remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. Later in life, he met his second wife, Constance, who preceded him in death in 2023.

Dave is survived by his sons, Corbin Bro and Stephen Bro (Megan Ackaert); daughter Cassie Bro; sister Dixie Carson (David); and nephew Shane Carson.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, no formal services will be held.
