Edward William Goodwin Sr., 81, passed away from complications due to Alzheimer's on May 19, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 60 years, son Ed Jr., and daughters Debra (Brian) Stewart and Denise (Dan) Flynn. Born in Seattle, Wash., he was the second of three children to Alice (Flynn) and Dwight Goodwin Sr. in 1945.

Ed and his family moved to Post Falls in 1974. He worked as a central office regional manager for Verizon (GTE) and retired after 32 years in 1998. He coached Little League Baseball in the 70s/80s and was a huge Mariners, Seahawks and Gonzaga basketball fan. He loved a good burger and, to his family's dismay, often enjoyed liver and onions. He played men’s league softball in the 90s/00s at the former Quad Park in Post Falls, and enjoyed camping, hiking, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. He also loved working in his yard, tending to his raspberry plants and especially his prized roses. Ed also enjoyed huckleberry picking. Nancy found herself setting up jam (so much jam) to share with family and friends every season, as Ed was an overachiever when it came to finding huckleberries.

If he hadn’t seen you in a while and you had a free moment or two (or 20), he'd regale you with the story of how he bagged a moose in '01 or show you pictures of his four grandsons, Riley and Logan Flynn, and Ian and Andrew Stewart.

At his request, no services will be held.
