Elizabeth E. Myers, 85, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, following complications from a broken hip suffered earlier this spring. She was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Elizabeth spent many years of her life living in Kirkland, Washington, before moving to Whitefish to be closer to family.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sister, Bobbi Nygaard; her father, Robert Myers and her mother, Isabella Myers.

Although Elizabeth faced developmental disabilities throughout her life, she embraced life fully and joyfully. While living in the Kirkland area, she worked for Custom Industries, an organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. After moving to Montana, she worked for many years with Flathead Industries, where she continued to find purpose, friendship, and community. She also loved spending as much time as possible at the Whitefish Community Center. She was so well cared for by all the amazing volunteers there, and we, her family, were so grateful for all of them.

Elizabeth especially loved participating in Special Olympics activities and competitions. She proudly earned many medals over the years and cherished every opportunity to participate. Bowling leagues brought her great happiness, as did coloring, collecting stuffed animals and various other trinkets, and spending time with those she loved.

Her Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Elizabeth rarely missed Mass if she could help it, and her faith provided her with comfort, joy, and strength.

Elizabeth lived simply and found happiness in everyday moments. A lunch outing, a little shopping trip, or a visit from friends and family could brighten her entire day. She had a warm spirit and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, and those who knew her will remember her kindness, enthusiasm and loving heart.

Her family remained hopeful after her fall in March that she would recover and return to the life she loved so much. Sadly, complications prevented that recovery. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held at Glacier Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 29. Family and friends are invited to attend and say their farewell to Elizabeth. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
