New CdA community park to hold opening celebration May 29

After years of planning and construction, the new Faith Walk Community Fitness Park in Coeur d’Alene plans to open with a large community celebration.
The free grand opening event takes place Friday, May 29, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at 4971 Atlas Road. The first 1,200 people to arrive will receive a free barbecued hamburger and hot dog dinner.
Organizers say the 9-acre park is designed as a place where physical fitness, faith, family and community life intersect. It will offer recreation, worship, fitness challenges, gathering spaces and events for people of all ages.
“We created this park to help strengthen individuals and families spiritually, mentally and physically,” said Dan Pinkerton, chairman of the park board. “We believe strong communities are built when people grow in character, faith, perseverance, responsibility and healthy living together.”
The celebration will feature live worship bands, community activities, food and prayer gathering throughout the afternoon and evening.
A formal dedication ceremony is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. and will include worship, prayer, introductions from community and ministry leaders, recognition of volunteers and sponsors and details of the park’s future vision.
One major announcement will be the launch of the new Faith & Fitness Quest App, a mobile platform designed to encourage both spiritual growth and physical activity through monthly challenges and competitions.
Participants using the app will be able to complete scripture-based challenges, physical fitness contests and character-building activities while competing for prizes, medals and rankings. Monthly competitions will award up to $1,000 in prizes, while top competitors can qualify for an annual “Guardian Warrior Championship” with a Jeep Gladiator as the grand prize.
The park includes walking trails, prayer gardens, a soccer field, worship and gathering areas, family recreation spaces and 15 perimeter fitness stations. Plans also include the future construction of a “Guardian Warrior Arena,” an obstacle-course facility with 20 features such as warped walls, rope climbs, endurance stations and side-by-side competition lanes inspired by popular athletic challenge events.
“The broader vision behind the park is rooted in encouraging healthier lifestyles, stronger families and deeper community connection through faith-centered activities and personal development,” Pinkerton said.
To help accommodate attendance during the opening celebration, the Coeur d’Alene School District will provide shuttle buses running every 10 minutes between Lake City High School and the park from 3 to 9 p.m.
Organizers say the Faith Walk Community Fitness Park will also be available for community gatherings, Bible studies, weddings, sports activities and other events. More information at faithwalkcda.org
