LEGION BASEBALL: Lums take two from Sandpoint Sasquatch 17U to open season

SANDPOINT — JD Davenport had a pair of RBI singles in a nine-run top of the fifth inning of the first game for the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen class AA American Legion baseball team in a 12-4 and 15-0 sweep of the Sandpoint Sasquatch 17U at War Memorial Field on Saturday.
Evan Huss (six) and Trevor Booze (four) combined to strike out 10 for Coeur d’Alene. Will D’Orazi also had two RBIs in the first game for Coeur d’Alene.
In the nightcap, Logan Strimback and Aven Adams drove in four runs each for Coeur d'Alene.
Strimback hit a three-run double in the fourth inning for the Lums. Adams had two-run doubles in the second and fourth innings.
Justin Fagan had three RBIs, two on a first-inning single, for Coeur d’Alene.
Coeur d’Alene hosts Prairie on Wednesday at Thorco Field at 6 p.m.
