Name-calling, belittling not comments of substance

I was struck by the differences between the letters from Roger Gregory and Michael Harmelin. Roger Gregory, a former business owner from Priest River, showed us an accurate history of what mismanagement of foreign affairs can do, and the massive cost in lives resulting from decisions of little or no action.

Michael Harmelin showed us his frustration with procedure (which is was got us into two world wars, 9/11, etc. He then proceeded to call our president names and belittle him.

The first letter contained much substance. Not so, the second. Name calling and belittling are not comments of substance. There is often a struggle between "form" and "function." In this case, "function" represents the action the president has taken, and "form" represents the recalcitrant actions of Congress. There is much more substance in function than in form.

As I write this, it appears substance is paying off.
