Thomas Fatherree, 91, passed away May 16, 2026, in Kalispell.

He was born July 3, 1934, in Brundage, Texas, to Leslie Wallace and Lahoma Estelle. The family moved to Kalispell when he was a child. He graduated from Flathead High School in 1953, where he lettered in band, playing the trombone. In high school, he worked at a gas station. He joined the National Guard and the Reserves, where he was honorably discharged in 1959. Tom also worked in a mill and then the US Postal Service. He had a very strong work ethic, which he passed to his children.

He moved his family to Alaska in 1972, where he became a postmaster for eight years and retired after 35 years. They lived in Alaska for 18 years, where they camped and fished the Kenai River most weekends. After he retired, Tom and Theresa moved to Texas for 12 years and then to Coos Bay, Oregon, for 19 years. They did some traveling in their RV during those years. Health issues made them decide to move back to Kalispell for the last six years.

Tom could fish all day and night. He fished, hunted, hiked and camped everywhere he went. He also loved bowling, craft woodworking, reading old Westerns and watching football and baseball. He loved going to the Glacier Range Riders Stadium in Kalispell to watch baseball games in the evening.

Tom captivated you with his bright blue eyes, big smile, quiet humor and gentle, loving warmth.  He loved to tease. He was a devoted husband and dad.

He will be lovingly missed by Theresa, his wife of almost 64 years; children, Linda, Robert, Pamela and Larissa; sister Barbara; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Alan and grandson Danny.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family knows he is at peace in the presence of the Lord.
