Libby Loggers varsity baseball ends season at Columbia Falls

Libby scored early and added runs late, but Columbia Falls used a big start to pull away for a 13-6 win over the Loggers on Tuesday.
Libby dropped to 6-11 with the loss in its first season of high school baseball.
The Loggers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Columbia Falls answered with four runs in the bottom half and three more in the second to go ahead 7-2. Libby added two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh, but the Wildcats scored twice in the fifth and four times in the sixth to keep control.
Boe Miles led Libby at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Ian Thom went 1 for 2 with a run, an RBI, while Tanner Wolfe finished 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Libby finished with four hits and drew seven walks, but the Loggers also committed six errors.
Columbia Falls collected 11 hits.
Boe Miles started on the mound for Libby and took the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, on six hits over two innings. Dalton Cannon pitched three innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits. Bransen Holzer threw the final inning and allowed one run.
The Loggers American Legion baseball season begins Wednesday, June 3 at home against Kalispell at 5:30 p.m. Dinner on the Diamond follows Friday evening.
