Representing the colors and doing their school proud.
Thompson Falls could not have found any better representatives for the Blue Hawk golf team than junior Aubrey Baxter and senior Solveig, and those two played well again at the State B tournament at Lake Hill course in Billings last week.
Baxter, a junior who also qualified for several events into this week’s State B track and field meet at last week’s Western B in Missoula, carded consecutive rounds of 95 for a 190 two-day total at Lake Hill and finished 21st individually, three strokes out from the top 15 and All-State B honors.
A senior, Nygaard shot a 103 the first day and a 93 the second for a total score of 196, good for 33rd place in the tournament.
Coach Doree Thilmony, who doubles as the Thompson Falls athletic director, is very impressed with her two top players, the only Hawks who qualified for State B play this spring.
“Process over perfection,” she said. “Many teenagers today feel the pressure for perfection and golf will humble you and teach you that the process is more important than perfection. The most impressive attribute that Solveig and Aubrey display is integrity and honesty.
“Our high school and community sent some pretty remarkable young ladies to represent us,” she added, “and we are fortunate to have Thompson Falls Blue Hawks follow their names on the score cards.”
