Flathead Valley Community College invites the community to experience agriculture up close through its new Flathead Valley Farm Tour Series, part of FVCC’s Continuing Education summer lineup. This non-credit series features tours to several local farms and offers a firsthand look at how food, flowers, livestock and other products are grown and raised across Northwest Montana.
The series features guided visits to a wide range of local farms from livestock operations and orchards to flower and vegetable farms. Each tour highlights the people and processes behind the region’s local food system, giving participants the opportunity to walk the land, meet farmers and explore diverse approaches to agriculture.
Sign up to explore locations such as Dirt Rich Compost in Columbia Falls, Raven Ridge Farm in Kalispell and Two Bear Farm just outside Whitefish, among many others. Several tours include workshops like composting, soil health, garlic cultivation, bouquet making and more.
“These tours are about building a deeper understanding of where our food comes from and supporting the local producers who make it possible,” said FVCC Campus Farm Manager Giovanni Bevacqua. “It’s a unique way to connect with Flathead Valley agriculture that we’re proud to offer.”
The Flathead Farm Tour Series is part of FVCC’s robust Continuing Education offerings this season. Programming also includes FVCC Kids College, weeklong, hands-on summer classes for youth ages 6-18. Offerings include classes like Science is Magic, Beginner Woodworking,
Stop Motion Animation: LEGO Brickfilms and Cake Decorating, giving students fun, creative ways to explore new interests.
Registration is now open for more than 150 summer non-credit classes designed to spark new skills, hobbies and professional growth. Each tour and class operates on its own schedule, and enrollment is limited.
