State meet up next for Thompson Falls tracksters

The Thompson Falls girls scored 32 team points and the boys 16 at the Western B divisional track and field meet at MCPS in Missoula Friday and Saturday.
Addy Deal won two events and placed third in another and Aubrey Baxter placed in three events to pace the Hawk girls, and six Hawk boys placed in a variety of events and will now join Deal and Baxter in making plans to attend the State B meet, again in Missoula this Friday and Saturday. Of note, the pole vault competition will be held Thursday.
Brylon Van-Elswyk, Weston Block, Hank Stone, Alex Newman, Teagan Dorscher and Carson Kenney earned Western B placing spots and will represent the Hawk boys again at the State B in Missoula this week.
Continuing her outstanding school year of athletic accomplishments (she has already been named All-State B in volleyball and basketball) Deal cleared a career-best height of 9-6 to win the pole vault. The defending State B champ in the javelin, Deal won the Western C title with a throw of 122-7. Addy also threw the discus 108-1 to place third and qualify for the State B in that event as well, and just missed placing in the long jump, with an eighth place effort there.
Baxter, Deal’s super-sister athlete (related closely by sports only) who narrowly missed garnering All-State B honors last week at the State B golf tournament in Billings (see other story), won fourth place in the 400 meters and sixth in the discus and long jump with lifetime best efforts in both field events, recording a throw of 100-7 in the discus and jumping 15-2 in the long jump.
Van-Elswyk threw the javelin a personal best 159-1 to place second in that event, Block ran down fourth in the 3200 meters in a personal best time of 10:30.69, Stone pole vaulted 11-0 to win fifth place and Newman nailed down his State B berth with a career-best long jump of 20-5.
The 400 meter relay team of Stone, Dorscher, Kenney and Newman ran a collective best time ever of 46.22 seconds to win sixth place.
The boys 1600 relay of Chase Helvey, Block, Easton Deal and Brogan Anderson ran a lifetime best of 3:47.79 but finished seventh, just missing making the State B meet.
