Trotters end season at Western B-C tourney

The gain has been worth the pain.

Coach Jon Zigler and his Plains Trotters endured some softball pain but made a lot of gain, particularly late this season when they were forced to play a rash of games in a short time span just to ensure entry into this week’s Western B-C tournament in Anaconda.

The biggest and best of those games was a thrilling, extra-inning 4-3 win over league champion MAC in Plains back on May 14. But that was then and this is now, and softball life does march on.

The Trotters lost twice in Anaconda, 15-5 to Three Forks Friday and 3-1 to the host Copperheads Saturday to complete 2026 season play.

Plains completes a season full of weather delays, reschedules and a seemingly endless string of makeup games at the conclusion of the regular season, all of which may have contributed to Plains’ early exit in Anaconda.

Details of the Plains Western B-C games last week were not available at press time.
