Make-A-Wish Idaho, a nonprofit that grants wishes to Idaho children with critical illnesses, is holding its annual Walk for Wishes North Idaho fundraiser on Saturday at Riverstone Park, 1805 W. Tilford Lane, Coeur d’Alene.
Day-of check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies will start at 10:30 a.m. No entry fee is required but walk participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 to earn an official event T-shirt. Visit idaho.wish.org to register.
Currently, 14 children are waiting for wishes in North Idaho. The most requested wishes are to go to Hawaii and Disney World, but other local wishes include a wish to go to the Super Bowl, a wish to have a flower garden and a wish to have a playhouse. Make-A-Wish Idaho aims to raise $70,000, which is enough to fully fund nine of these wishes.
The event will feature a photo booth, raffles, live music from Tanya Low and a kids zone. Bully Dogs and JC Coffee Co. will be at the event selling food and beverages.
“The Walk For Wishes North Idaho is our fastest-growing event in the state," Make-A-Wish Idaho President and CEO Janie Best said in a news release. "Last year, we had over 500 walkers, and it keeps getting bigger and better every year. We’re hoping to raise enough to grant nine North Idaho wishes this year, so I’m inviting everyone to come out and have a little fun and make a big difference."
