Work on I-90 will cause some delays at Saltese and Haugen
MONTE TURNER | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 month, 2 weeks AGO
Motorists traveling on Interstate 90 between Saltese and Haugan should plan for delays beginning next week as the Montana Department of Transportation launches a summer resurfacing project in western Mineral County.
The state, working with contractor Riverside Contracting Inc., will begin work the week of May 25 on a stretch of I-90 between mile markers 11.2 and 15.7. The project is expected to continue through the end of August, weather permitting.
The work will include milling the existing roadway surface, applying a chip seal and fog seal, and installing new pavement markings and signage. Construction crews are expected to work daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Drivers traveling through the work zone should expect reduced speeds of 35 mph, single-lane traffic and delays. At times, traffic may be routed onto the interstate shoulder while crews are working. Officials also noted that wide loads measuring 12 feet or more will need to be staged before entering the project area. Oversized vehicles will only be allowed through the construction zone between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., Monday through Friday. Drivers of wide loads can schedule passage by contacting Mountain West Holding at 406-490-7230.
The resurfacing work is part of its ongoing mission to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system across Montana. Questions or comments about the project can be directed to Joan Redeen at 406-396-1978 or by email at [email protected].
