Primary election day in Montana is June 2. Honor those who have died protecting your right to vote by voting! Register, vote, and participate in democracy!

Old people get elected to office because old people vote. Voting makes democracy rather than anarchy. You have a voice that counts so use it wisely.

In case you haven’t noticed the traffic, Tourist Season is here – the season of no left turns unless at a four-way stop or stoplight. You can spot the tourists. They are the ones that don’t know the rules.

The fastest way to get to the 400 Horses Casino is to go past it, make a right turn at Montana Marbled Meats and buy something there. Take a left turn back onto Hwy 93 and then the right turn onto Irvine Flats Road. Afterwards, do not even think of making a left turn to go to Jette Hill. Just don’t go. Turn right and go back to Polson. It’s easier.

Activities at the Polson Senior Center include: bingo at 6 p.m. Fridays and card bingo, 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30 p.m. Monday, no pass, and Thursdays, pass four (we switch partners every six hands); pool table available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; mahjong and bridge, noon Wednesdays (looking for substitutes and regular players); exercise class (low impact and video-assisted), 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Keep in mind: Social interaction is good for brain health and exercise enhances physical, mental and social well-being.

Also at the center: Kiwanis Club of Polson meets at noon on the third Thursday of each month through June; Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays (call 208-520-1013); and the Veterans Service Officer is available from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday ($5.00 donation; $10 without MASTS form completed). Milk is available with all meals.

Main dishes include: French dip, May 27; ham/turkey wrap, May 28; “Alpine Teepee” burger, May 29; split pea soup, June 1; lasagna and vote, June 2; baked chicken, June 3; meatballs, June 4; and ham-and-cheese casserole, June 5.

Our community center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes, and may be reserved for special events on weekends and evenings.

We are open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays, or later by appointment.
