Siver slated for prelim hearing
CHLOE COCHRAN | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 hours, 31 minutes AGO
A Boundary County man accused of firing at law enforcement during a possible domestic violence investigation and then fleeing the scene across county lines is set for a preliminary hearing Friday for two charges of aggravated assault.
Samuel Siver, 50, is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing, where the court will determine if there’s sufficient evidence to charge Siver with the felonies.
He is currently in custody at the Boundary County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The charges, two counts of aggravated assault (or battery) upon certain personnel, stem from a May 20 incident in Boundary County, where law enforcement responded to a domestic violence call. His flight resulted in a manhunt chase across county lines, first in the Samuels area, where his car was found, and then in Hope, where Bonner County personnel arrested Siver.
During the investigation of the domestic violence call, Siver allegedly fired shots at two Boundary County Sheriff’s personnel before fleeing the scene into Bonner County.
The charging document indicates that the aggravated assault charges were a result of the alleged gunshots aimed at law enforcement. The document indicates that Siver knew the personnel were law enforcement and performed the life-threatening actions anyway.
No personnel were harmed during the investigation or manhunt.
