Knowing how much is one serving of dairy, protein, dairy and fruit can help one make healthy food choices. One cup of raw, canned or frozen vegetable, and two cups of salad greens counts as one serving.

One cup of fresh, frozen or canned fruit is one serving. Look for canned fruit that is packed in its own juice or in light syrup or plain frozen fruit with no added sugar.

One slice of bread, one six-inch tortilla, one half cup of cooked cereal, rice or pasta and one cup of cereal is one grain serving. Three cups of popped popcorn (without the butter) is also a grain serving.

One ounce of protein is one egg, one tablespoon of peanut butter, or one-half cup of cooked dried beans, peas and lentils. Three ounces of protein (lean meat, fish, poultry) is about the size of a deck of cards.

For dairy, a serving is one cup of milk, plain yogurt or soy milk, one-half cup of cottage cheese, one ounce of cheese and one third cup of grated cheese. Choose low fat or no fat options.

The center hosts a bake sale and yard sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 29-30, and bingo at 2 p.m. June 13. Gentle Yoga is Wednesdays at 1 p.m. ($5); bring your own mat.
