Arson cited in structure fire
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 month, 1 week AGO
A structure fire early this morning was caused by arson, according to Coeur d’Alene police.
A resident preparing for work heard a popping sound about 5 a.m. and, upon checking the area, noticed a glow coming from inside a framed house under construction. He immediately called for help, according to a press release.
The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of Valentin Drive near W. Wilbur Ave. and N. Ramsey Road, and extinguished the blaze, limiting damage to the interior of the structure.
The home was in the early stages of construction, with only the framing completed.
“Investigators found what appeared to be a pile of construction debris inside the home that appears to have been intentionally ignited,” the release said.
The Coeur d’Alene Police Department is asking residents in the area to check video surveillance for suspicious activity. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Jesse Welch at 208-769-2293.
