I grew up in the Tri-Cities, Wash., and have always loved to write. I attended the University of Washington, where I earned a double major in journalism and political science, with an area of emphasis in history. I am the fifth out of six kids — don't believe any of the stories that my siblings tell. To be able to tell others stories and take photos for a living is a dream come true — and I considered myself blessed to be a community journalist. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hiking and spending time outdoors, genealogy, reading, and watching the UW Huskies and the Seattle Seahawks. SANDPOINT — Creating homes.
In a nutshell, that's what Nikki Banks does — both as a passion and as a career.
After 28 years with Sheri's Home Interiors, Banks is branching out on her own with Nikki's Home Interiors. In her new business, Banks offers a variety of services, including flooring, countertops and interior design.
"I absolutely love what I do," Banks said. "Helping people turn their house into a home is an amazing feeling."
Banks gives clients options in all areas, saying she wants to help them customize their living space into a home. If they want a certain type of flooring — whether it is luxury vinyl plank flooring, tile, laminate, wood or carpet — then Banks is able to use her many connections in the industry to find just the right option for clients.
"I will always strive to do my best for you," Banks said. "And, when all is said and done, I just want them to love their home."
Countertop options are equally diverse, with everything from quartz to granite among the options offered through Nikki's Home Interiors. Tile backsplashes are also something that she can offer, with a wide number of colors and styles available, Banks said.
Collaboration with T5 Construction means cabinets that fit both a client's home and lifestyle.
While there are many talented home interior designers and companies in the region, Banks said her experience and knowledge help set her apart. She noted that living in the community and working in the industry for 30-plus years gives her the experience and ability to help clients, quickly solving potential problems.
Those years of experience — and a love for helping clients — also give her an edge in customer service, she added.
Since opening Nikki's Home Interiors, Banks said she is working to get her name out and to spread the word about her business, its services and the many ways she can help clients create their perfect home.
She's also working with local builders, many of whom she has worked with for years, giving her the ability to ease the stress of a remodel project for her clients.
"I'm here to help you," Banks said. "I want to make sure you love your home and what you have done to it."
