The Spokane International Airport has completed the Concourse C expansion project, marking the first phase to be completed in its larger Terminal Renovation and Expansion Program.

The 140,000-square-foot expansion and renovation aim to modernize the airport and support parallel growth alongside the growing local population.

Members of the Spokane city government joined airport leaders to commemorate the completion during a dedication ceremony.

"Two years ago, when we debuted the west terminal expansion, the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene region got a sneak peek of our bold new vision for the Airport: a reimagined gateway, purpose-built to expand efficiency and accessibility for our growing region," said Dave Haring, Spokane Airport's CEO. "Today, that vision is no longer a concept. It's becoming a reality for what we anticipate the future of air travel to be like for our region for generations to come."

Starting in early June, flights will depart from the new, modernized gates C1, C2 and C3.

The space features new passenger boarding bridges, along with many new amenities including expanded access for passengers with disabilities, regionally sourced fixtures and finishes, electrochromic smart windows and newly designed restrooms.

There are several new concessions, including Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese, as well as soon-to-open vendors Indaba Coffee and Iron Goat Brewing.

The new terminal was designed by Alliance Co. out of Minneapolis, Minn., and constructed through a joint venture between airport construction firm QD Construction and Spokane-based Garco Construction.

The project was financed through several sources, including $50 million in grants through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Earlier this month, teams began relocating existing infrastructure along the airport's front curb to enable the next phase of the Terminal Renovation and Expansion Program. The creation of a 255,000-square-foot Central Hall facility to consolidate the airport's two terminals.

Due to the work, airport officials recommend travelers arrive at least two hours before departure. There will also be new signage and airport navigation aids.

The airport is introducing "Marshall," the mascot and theme of the navigational aids and will have human wayfinder staff to assist confused passengers.

The project is to break ground in early 2027.
