May 31, 1976 – ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Jasman, Sagle, announce the engagement of their daughter, Joyce, to Paul Sheley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Sheley, Sycamore, Illinois. An SHS graduate, Joyce completed her education in elementary education at the U of I. Paul graduated from No. Ill. University with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. The couple, who attended an advanced studies program at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago in 1974, have been chosen as missionaries to Indonesia by the Baptist Foreign Mission Society. A July 10 wedding is planned.

P-J’s OPENS AFTER REMODELING PROJECT
After extensive remodeling, the old Pastime Recreation at 224 N. First has been re-opened and renamed P-J’s by its new owners, Sandpoint natives Mike Parkins and Bill Jacobson and their wives. The business features both a bar and a lunch counter, which serves hamburgers and cheeseburgers.

BOSSINGHAM PICKED FOR CLASS
SHS student Dennis Bossingham is one of nearly 70 outstanding Idaho high school juniors selected to attend the 9th Junior Engineering Technical Society computer programming school at the University of Idaho College of Engineering. The course is worth two college credits to those who enroll at the U of I after high school graduation.

May 31, 1951 – LOW TEMPERATURE TUESDAY
A killing frost blanketed the area Tuesday, when the mercury sank to an official low of 28 degrees. People in Sandpoint and area farms reported that yards and fields were white when they arose Tuesday. Kenmor Marina reported a thin skin of ice on the shallow water in sheltered spots.

NEWS FROM SAGLE by Mrs. Leo Hartley
Eighth grade graduation for 13 students was held Wednesday at the school auditorium. Graduating were Lynnette Hawkins, Marie Converse, Josephine Reed, Mary Ann Watt, Dorothy and Donna Roberts, Ralph Hawkins, Bob Craig, Bob Jacobson, Marylin Fisch, Jack Pierce, Shirley Cline and Patricia Watt.
Those from Sagle who graduated from [Sandpoint] high school this year were Billie Reed, Helen Surface, Roy Turnbull and June Jeffres.
Several from Sagle have the measles. Carol Ann Bidwell and Denny Hustead are among those who were unable to attend the school picnic.
Last Friday, Mrs. Lars Larson was hostess to a Stanley party. There were 17 present at the party.
The Leazer children have the measles.

SCHOONOVER IS ADVANCED
Robert E. Schoonover, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.O. Schoonover, rte. 1, recently advanced to the rate of fire control technician, third class. He is serving aboard the destroyer USS Parks, flagship of commander destroyer squadron 1, of the Pacific fleet. It has operated in Korean waters since March.
