Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 1 hour, 32 minutes AGO
Maebeth Lucile Fulmer, 105, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Maebeth was born March 7, 1921, in Ethanac, Riverside, Calif., to Allen and Geneva Foss. She grew up in Pasadena, Calif., and later married Louie Fulmer in 1939.
Maebeth wholeheartedly embraced life with joy, enthusiasm, and curiosity. As a young mother with six children, she worked extensively with the 4-H club, teaching and helping her sons with their various livestock projects. She became a professional seamstress and sewing instructor, and was an outstanding knitter. She was an avid gardener throughout her life and continued canning well into her 90s. She traveled extensively with her husband, and lived in Hawaii for a time where she enjoyed sewing dresses for Hula dancers in the Merrie Monarch Festival.
Upon returning to California, then in her 70s, she decided to go to college for the first time, studying archeology, anthropology, and especially art, becoming an accomplished sculptor and painter. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Sandpoint in 1995 and immediately volunteered as a Pink Lady at the hospital. She, and her sister, Lee, became familiar to many in town when they volunteered at the ice cream stand at the festival for some years. She delighted in her large family and had a place in her heart for every one of them, seeing five generations in her lifetime. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her and whose lives she touched.
Maebeth is survived by her five children, Bruce (Pam) Fulmer of Phelan, Calif., Todd Fulmer of Sandpoint, Idaho, Allen (Carole) Fulmer of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Scott (Chris) Fulmer of LaQuinta, Calif., and Ross Fulmer (Mary Armstrong) of Sandpoint, Idaho; a son-in-law, Steve Chipkar of Riverside, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louie Fulmer; her daughter, Valerie Chipkar; her sister Geneva Jones; and her parents.
