A 17-year-old girl died from injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle wreck on the U.S. 93 Bypass in Kalispell on Thursday morning.

The teen was identified as Glacier High School senior Emery Denney by Principal Brad Holloway in a schoolwide email distributed Thursday afternoon. Her father, Aaron Denney is an international language teacher at the high school, according to Holloway.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash, which occurred on the section of the bypass near Three Mile Drive, about 10 a.m., according to Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio.

Denney was taken to Logan Health Medical Center in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries later that day, according to school and police officials.

The crash closed southbound traffic on the bypass north of Three Mile Drive for roughly two hours, officials said.

Kalispell Police and Fire departments as well as the Flathead County Sheriff's Office responded, according to Venezio. The Kalispell Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to all impacted as they navigate this tragedy," Venezio said in a statement.

Holloway encouraged affected students to talk with their teachers, counselors and school staff if they need to.

"Over the coming days, some of our students may find it difficult to concentrate or focus. Others may find comfort in keeping busy and following their normal routines. Both are OK. There is no right or wrong way to grieve," he wrote.
